Decorative Triangular Wood Stained Tree

Instead of buying a Christmas tree, or cutting down a beautiful old tree from a tree lot in the woods, do something completely different, and totally creative this year. Let’s design our own custom shape wooden Christmas tree. No, you don’t have to be skilled with modern tools to do such job. Just gather the supplies mentioned in next section and use the following simple steps!!

Following supplies are need for project:-

1. Plywood sheets
2. Marker or Pencil.
3. Ruler.
4. Circular Saw.
5. Varathane Wood Stain.
6. Glue.
7. Nailer.
8. Scrap Board.
9. Screws.
10. Sand Paper.
11. Lint-Free cloth

Step 1: Start by measuring and marking a triangle on the plywood using a pencil. For using the full with of the bottom of the plywood, first mark the center on the top of the wood. Using ruler, draw clear straight lined on the plywood.

Step 2: Sawing a wood board or plywood is not an easy task as a slight mistake while cutting can lead to a complete damage. So, it is recommended to clamp a scrap board to the plywood in order to create guide for the saw.
Step 3: Now using the guide and a circular saw, cut the triangle out from the plywood.

Step 4: Start from the bottom using a 1x3 size board (You can use trim pieces for the 1x3’s just like we did). Do not attach the pieces yet, just measure and cut to fit, then place them on the plywood to dry fit.
Step 5: Place the boards in such a pattern: 1x3, 1x6, 1x3, 1x4, 1x2 and repeat until you reach the top of the tree.
Step 6: This is a great place to really make this tree your own. I used pieces of tin that I found at Hobby Lobby, in place of some of the boards. It cuts easily with scissors and you can cut it to any size. I also used 1x6 blue stained pine in place of some of the 1x6 pieces to variation to the color and texture.
Step 7: Wood stain allows you to change or add color and richness to the surface of a wood. So, if you want to make your Christmas tree more attractive stain it using Varathane wood stain. Use different stains and paints to make each piece look different. Afterwards, let it dry thoroughly.
Step 7: Wood stain allows you to change or add color and richness to the surface of a wood. So, if you want to make your Christmas tree more attractive stain it using Varathane premium wood stain. Use different stains and paints to make each piece look different. Afterwards, let it dry thoroughly.
Step 9: Now, flip the tree over and attach the long 2x6 board to the back of the tree. Use screws and wood glue to attach them. Make sure to position the board as high up on the tree as possible without the boards showing from the front.
Step 10: You will also need 1x2 trim of wood that can fit to the perimeter of the wood. So, measure and cut the pieces to the fit. Once done, stain the pieces and then attach them to the tree using nails and wood glue.
Step 11: Cut the shelf pieces. To do the needful, drill 2, 3/4” pocket holes in each piece and attach them to the tree using 1 1/4” pocket hole screws.
Step 12: Also, sand all over the trim and shelves.
Step 13: Now, for building the tree base with, you will need 2x6 boards. It helps to build the base around a scrap 2x6, making sure there is a little wiggle room, so that you can slide it in and out, easily. Attach those using screws and wood glue.
Step 14: Now step back and admire your hand-made wooden Christmas tree!!!
